TEHRAN – The 8th edition of the Tehran International Sculpture Symposium will open in the courtyard of Milad Tower on Friday.

“14 foreign sculptors from 13 countries along with 15 Iranian sculptors will be creating their works with travertine,” Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization Director Isa Alizadeh said in a press release published on Tuesday.

The foreign sculptors are coming from Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Russia, Turkey and several other countries, he added.

“The symposium will be held in the international, national and student categories,” he added.

The student section is non-competitive, in which the young students will work to gain experiences with the professionals, Alizadeh remarked.

The symposium will be running until May 13 and the winners will be announced on May 14.

Organized annually by the Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization, the symposium seeks to help beautify the urban environment of the city and familiarize the citizens with the process of making new designs.
